AT&T Multimedia Software Solutions introduces Rio 7.0 software
MAITLAND, Fla. -- AT&T announced today that it has begun shipping version 7.0 of its popular RIO graphic software.
Rio graphic software is a DOS-based multimedia design product for graphic design, broadcast and video professionals. It is an object-oriented program, using vector-based drawing tools and resolution-independent technology. It employs such raster image processing features as emboss, contrast, negative, overlay, posterize, pixelize, soften and B&W.
"RIO graphic software offers high-resolution vector-based design combined with the functionality of a paint package," said Timothy May, product manager for AT&T's Multimedia Software Solutions Group. "Its proxy edit feature lets customers use their favorite MS-DOS or Windows-based paint programs from within the RIO software program, and edit any resolution of supported image files."
RIO 7.0 graphic software features many new enhancements, including:
- Frame accurate 24-bit color animation: This feature creates two-dimensional, key-frame animations and records them to videotape or file.
- Higher scene resolution to 32K x 32K: This produces the highest quality image output.
- Optimization for 486 and faster computers to take advantage of the speed and versatility offered through current hardware advances.
- 24-bit and 32-bit TARGA files to enhance file compatibility with other graphics programs.
- Six new gradient types are available for backgrounds and objects.
- A new floating toolbar with object creation icons to allow easy access to frequently used commands.
- Adjustable borders that can be set for all objects, with the ability to change color and transparency.
- Image-cataloging capabilities to create thumbnail views of image files in the specified directory to easily identify files.
- Image tiling to allow users to tile the image that has been selected for background or as an image map.
RIO graphics software is currently a popular choice for many major television stations and video studios, as well as for graphics and design companies and many large corporations.
"The success of RIO graphics software proves that DOS isn't dead. It was developed to meet the continued demand for a fast, solid DOS-based illustration and image processing software program," said May.
RIO 7.0 software is now shipping and is available at a price of $995. An upgrade from earlier versions of RIO Professional is available from AT&T for $195 by calling 800-892-8550, Ext. 333.
AT&T RIO 7.0 graphic software requires a 386 or better PC with a math co-processor, minimum of 8MB of RAM and 20MB of disk space, MS-DOS 5.0 or higher, a Microsoft-compatible mouse and/or digitizing tablet and a VGA VESA 24-bit compliant or TARGA, TARGA+, ATVista, Matrox or compatible video display card.
RIO 7.0 graphic software is the latest addition to AT&T's suite of software tools, which currently includes Multimedia Designer for Windows 3.1 (Windows 95 compatible), Multimedia Designer for Windows NT and Panorama. Graphics created on one system can be revised or run on any of the others.
