WEB SURFING JUST GOT SWEETER
candystand.com Launched: Interactive Multimedia Web Site Packed With
Shockwave Nostalgic Games, New "Digizines," Contests And Fun For Kids Of All Ages

Parsippany, New Jersey, March 26, 1997: In these days of "been there, seen it, done that," Web surfing just got sweeter with today's launch of candystand.com from LifeSavers Company. Located at http://www.candystand.com, candystand.com is an interactive, multimedia Web site using cutting-edge technology to create retro games like pinball and shooting baskets. It's a virtual amusement park that offers something for everyone--kids, teens, and adults.

Among candystand.com's highlights are more than a dozen Shockwave games and contests developed for LifeSavers Company by Skyworks Technologies, Inc. Included are: "Life Savers Waterpark Pinball," an interactive challenge for pinball wizards; "Bubble Yum Foul Shot Shoot-Out," where players try to sink as many baskets as possible before a 45-second shot clock runs out; and "Bet Your Life Savers TV Trivia," an interactive 1950s-style game show complete with a slick-haired, question-asking MC.

"LifeSavers Company products appeal to the broadest band of consumers, from kids to adults. As a Web site, candystand.com offers the same appeal," says Sharon Fordham, president of LifeSavers Company. "Kids will love the puzzles and downloading their own printable greeting cards. Teens will be challenged by the games and entertained by the digizines. Parents can enjoy spending time on candystand.com with their children."

Some highlights of candystand.com include: A variety of downloadable greeting cards that can be sent to friends, family members and others; and "Fruit Stripe Photo Safari," where visitors enter a virtual tropical rain forest or grassy plain to take photos of moving animals in the wild and score points for well-framed shots. After finishing a roll of film, flip through a photo album to see the pictures taken and learn about each animal.

As part of its "all ages" content, candystand.com has developed proprietary "digizines," -- special interest on-line magazines. These include: "Live it!," a guide to the good life, appealing to a thirty-something audience; "Plugged In," where visitors can find the latest in music, film, television and multi-media, and access movie reviews or concert information;

"Omnisport," offering information and scores for team sports and features on recreational activities; and "The Beholder," candystand.com's on-line comic book.

candystand.com's amusements also feature contests where winners are eligible for prizes. A sampling of contests include: the "Now and Later Graffiti Contest," which allows participants to create a drawing on a virtual brick wall. The 20 most creative works will hang in a gallery open to everyone. In the "Rock The Boat" sweepstakes, teens are offered an opportunity to win a free vacation cruise to the Caribbean; and in the "Kiss and Tell, Watch and Win" sweepstakes, romantic movie viewers can win one of four fabulous trips for two to Rome, Paris, Rio de Janeiro or Maui.

"candystand.com might be the first Web site to bridge the 'generational technology gap.' It's a G-rated site designed to appeal to everyone, which has always been the focus of any LifeSavers Company product," said Fordham. "It's a great place for parents and kids to spend quality time together. Today's technology-literate kids can even teach their 'virtually challenged' parents a thing or two about computers and the Internet."

LifeSavers Company is an operating unit of Nabisco, Inc. Nabisco is an $8.9 billion international packaged food manufacturer of snacks and other products, including such well-known U.S. brands as Oreo cookies, Ritz crackers, SnackWell's, Planters nuts, Life Savers candies and gums; Fleischmann's margarines, A.1. and Grey Poupon condiments and Milk-Bone dog snacks.
